Submissions

FNG2006 invites submissions of long papers in the following categories:

  1. Designing (and implementing) for fun and games (theories applied to the design of fun and games, storyboarding, prototyping, approaches to game evaluation; case studies and exemplars of successful fun and games design processes, in different settings)

  2. Innovative fun and game interfaces (novel consoles, peripherals and input devices: e.g., haptics and multi-modal interfaces).

  3. Collaborative fun and games (new forms of socially-organised fun and games).

  4. Distributed and mobile fun and gaming (concepts and tools that exploit the affordances of computational/technological mobility to facilitate non-co-located play).

  5. Conceptual approaches to fun and games (theoretical constructs and frameworks for understanding fun and games: engagement and motivation, narrative theory, optimal experience, flow).

  6. Fun and games culture (the social ramifications of gaming on society, on education and business; implications for social access and inclusion; gaming sub-cultures; historical perspectives on fun and games).

  7. Reflective studies of how fun can be packaged, evaluated and valued. Design guidelines and heuristics for fun.

Submissions must be complete. Papers may between 6 - 8 pages formatted according to the FNG2006 Guidelines for Authors. Please download and read this document as it contains information about how your paper should be structured and the appropriate use of language. If English is not your first language, we encourage you to have a fluent English speaker check your work.

Short Papers

Your complete paper must be submitted as a PDF no later than 8th May 2006, 11:59 PM (2359) GMT. Papers should be around 3 – 4 pages formatted according to the FNG2006 Guidelines for Authors. Please download and read this document as it contains information about how your paper should be structured and the appropriate use

Submissions need to be anonymised, submitted as two files. File one should have the authors details and contact details and the abstract (as a doc file). This should be called authorsurname.doc. File two should be a pdf file of the anonymised submission, this should be called authorsurname.pdf.

User Experiences

Your complete paper must be submitted as a PDF no later than 8th May 2006, 11:59 PM (2359) GMT. Two submissions are required, a one page pdf file submitted according to the FNG2006 Guidelines for Authors. Please download and read this document as it contains information about how your paper should be structured and the appropriate use of English.

Submissions need to be anonymised, submitted as two files. File one should include the author details and the information about the experience as detailed at Call for Participation. This should be submitted as a doc file and be called authorsurname.doc. File two should be a pdf file, intended for the proceedings, and should be called authorsurname.pdf.
