Diana Xu
I am a full-time PhD research student in the Department of Computing at the University of Central Lancashire. I have joined the Department of Computing after completing my first degree in Electronics and MSc in Digital Signal and Image Processing (DSIP).
My Research Interests
I have the general research interests in the theory, methods and tools of improving the design and evaluation of Tangible User Interface (TUI).
I focus on HCI-in-the-small (design and evaluation of interactive artefacts) as well as looking at HCI-in-the-large, (user-centred design of socio-technical systems).
Projects I Am Involved With
Historically children have played with physical objects to learn a variety of skills, a tangible interface (TUI) therefore would appear as a “natural” form to them. My research project involves designing and evaluating of children’s TUI; measuring fun, engagement, motivation and usability issues with children aged nine to ten using different TUIs.
